PDF BOOKMARKS / NAVIGATION

PDF Bookmarks (also called the document outline or table of contents) are a clickable navigation menu embedded in the PDF. Clicking an entry jumps to that section.

To access the Bookmarks / Navigaton:

WINDOWS
Adobe Acrobat Reader (most reliable): Open the PDF → look at the left navigation pane and click the Bookmarks icon (ribbon-like), or go to View > Show/Hide > Navigation Panes > Bookmarks. Expand/collapse the tree and click entries to jump to that location in the PDF.

Other free readers (e.g., SumatraPDF) often show outlines in a sidebar or menu when present.

macOS
Preview (built-in):
    For standard PDF outlines: View > Table of Contents.
    Preview also has its own non-standard page “Bookmarks” (Tools > Add Bookmark or ⌘D; view via View > Bookmarks). These are Preview-specific and do not appear in other apps.

Adobe Acrobat Reader: Same as Windows — left navigation pane Bookmarks icon, or View > Show/Hide > Navigation Panes > Bookmarks.
